Fishing for compliments: auf Lob und Anerkennung aussein bzw. diese durch Untertreibung (understatement) oder durch scheinbare Abwehr erst recht provozieren.
   Da es im Deutschen hierfür keinen Ausdruck gibt, hat sich die englische Wendung wegen ihrer Prägnanz und Kürze um so leichter auch bei uns durchsetzen können.
