Form
(Gut) in Form sein: gut aufgelegt, gut gelaunt, bei guter Leistungskraft sein. Die Wendung ist erst in jüngster Zeit aus dem Sportleben und aus dem Englischen übernommen, wo sie zuerst im Pferdesport üblich war. Vgl. französisch ›être en forme‹.
   Aus der Form gehen: erheblich zunehmen, an Gewicht zulegen.
   ›Sie hat nur ei(n) Förmche‹ sagt man rheinhessisch (Mainz) von einer Frau, die nur Jungen oder nur Mädchen zur Welt gebracht hat.
   Die Form wahren: sich höflich, wenn auch reserviert verhalten, sich nach den gesellschaftlichen Regeln richten, nach außen hin so tun, als sei alles in schönster Ordnung und Harmonie, ⇨ Etikette.
   Das nimmt Formen an!: besorgter Ausruf, wenn eine Sache auszuufern droht.
