(Absolut) fit sein: in guter Form, durchtrainiert, in körperlich guter Verfassung, gesund sein. Nicht ganz fit sein: nicht im Vollbesitz seiner Kräfte sein, sich ›angeschlagen‹, erschöpft fühlen. Bald wieder fit werden: sich erholen, seine Spannkraft, Leistungsfähigkeit und Lebensfreude wiedergewinnen:
   Das englische Wort ›fit‹: passend, angemessen, tauglich gelangte im Sinne von gut vorbereitet, leistungsfähig in die Sprache des Sports und von dort in der 1. Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts ins Deutsche und wie die Steigerungsform ›Topfit‹ in den allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch. Ein moderner Werbe-Slogan ›Fit statt fett‹ ruft dazu auf, durch fettarme Vollwertnahrung schlank und gesund zu bleiben.
